Day 6 - 13 July

Why why why????? Why does every holiday ends so quickly and work week never ends and reports and documents never seem to end?????
.
Today we must pack and leave our paradise and jump into reality! We are going home!
.
We left our luggage at the care of the hotel at 11.30am after checking out. We are going to have our brunch at the Toilet! Yes you've got it right! - The Toilet!
.

This is a popular and famous toilet-themed restaurant serving casual western food. It opened at 11am and we were one of the first few customers. We were welcomed and led to our toilet-bowls (to sit on). Some themed-restaurant looks nice but serves borderline food but this Modern Toilet serves pretty good food, at least, no-nonsense.
.
While waiting.. we played! J voluntarily posed as if he was using the toilet.. doing what men does best! Reading papers while doing their business and exposing their 'ass' to germs! *eeuuukkk*
.
His meat baked penne with meat balls actually tasted great and was served in a bath tub!
.
Here's mine.

My pork cutlet set with rice and soup. Very crispy and freshly made!
.
Our brunch also came with dessert and made the saying so appropriate - Life is so full of SHIT so eat it!

Can you imagine 2 30-somethings having fun snapping corny pictures there?? Haha! We did just that! The meal cost us NT$440 (SGD20). So worth it.
.
After the fun lunch, we had a mission to get a yummy local snack for our parents and J googled and knew there was one branch at 台北车站。 We took the train there and found the shop pretty quickly.
We bought some pretty good and expensive local biscuits back for our family.. go see their website and get their stuff!! http://www.ijysheng.com.tw
.
After that we stole a couple of minutes to sip coffee.. I meant, I sipped the coffee!

The man exhibiting the reluctance to end our holiday... boo hoo....

We made our way back to 西门町 for the last time! It was a rainy day and we spent our time inside 万年商业大楼 which houses lots of tiny stores and feels alot like our Queensway Shopping centre. It is not a huge mall and the shops sell mainly toys, figurines, comic-related and cute stuff and very little fashion. Though so, J still managed to get 2 t-shirts from here.
.
After 万年, we went into 西門新宿 which is also known as Shinjuku Plaza. The building is not outstanding or obvious and you wouldn't notice it's there if you are not there specifically for it. The shops inside the black and sleek building sell japanese fashion or japanese-inspired fashion paying special attention and incline towards japanese youth culture and their accessories too! The shops are small and are ran by independent designers and stylists in their rights. As most know that Shinjuku is a name for a district in Tokyo that is well-known for the shopping and nightlife. The plaza is popular with shoppers ranging from their teens to 30s and J and I felt the things on sale there were pretty expensive.. so we see-no-touch!
.
Both 万年商业大楼 and 西门新宿 are located within walking distance from 西门町 and our hotel.
.
We took reluctant steps back to the hotel at 3.30pm to collect out luggage and took a taxi to 台北车站again to look for buses back to the Airport.
.
The taxi fare was NT$85 (SGD3.9) and we were there at the bus station at 4pm. We bought our tickets to the airport for NT$370 (SGD16.8) and boarded the coach at 4.20pm and we arrived at the airport at 5.15pm... goodbye Taipei city!

Here's how the coach looked like and we didn't get to sit together as it was first-come-first-seat.
.
Here's our last meal in Taipei, at the airport cafe.
My once-again 牛肉面汤 and his 炸酱面。 We had a cola and a coffee. All for NT$370 (SGD11.4).
.
Our flight was at 7.30pm without delay. I watched The Karate Kid on J's iPod Touch and as sad as we were... J has to work the next day...
.
So there you have it, our 6 Days 5 Nights Taipei Chill-Out Tour! Stay tuned to our trip conclusion and photos on what we have bought and the detailed breakdown of our trip, financially.
