25 May - The DAY

After a long wait; the trip came and now; going... We are going home.
.
Slept in late and was feeling really tired. I only woke about 9am for breakie. Here's our daily bread! *yummy*
.

I was so craving for rice I had a plateful of the fried rice! I was and still am; rice-deprived!
.
And as usual, we went up to get ourselves ready and this day, also to pack up and say goodbye to our lovely apartment. Here's J checking out. We settled the payment and left Citadines at 11.30am and left our luggage with them so we did not have to lug them around. Anyway, we did not have much to carry. *proud*

.
We walked to the BTS station and took the train to Siam Station.. we checked out Som Tam and was alittle disappointed there was a queue. J suggested walking around Siam Square and returned to Som Tam in an hour to beat the lunch crowd - clever! The weather was so so so hot! We found an A&W and decided to get his Root Beer Float!

The happy hubby with his happy drink!
.
This was the first time we sat on the 2nd level of the restaurant. I didn't even know they had one! *blush*

Very unglam and ungroomed! I do not usually do much (grooming) knowing it will be a long day + flight.

.
After our hearty and satisfying meal that cost less than 400THB (couldn't remember exactly how much), we basically had nothing much to do but to kill time until an early dinner at 5pm before we head on to Citadines to collect our luggage. We walked around Siam Square, Siam Paragon and found this cafe in the unpopular and less crowded wing - French Cafe. Nothing to do, J paid to surf the net while I chilled.

I had a coffee for 70 THB and his net sufing was 150THB for 20mins. CHEAP LO!
.
We had our dinner at Another Hound by Greyhound Cafe! It was the most sumptuous BUT most value-for-money meal!
My healthy Grapefruit + Pineapple + Banana Smoothie and his Coke!
Felt as if we were in a fine dining restaurant..
His very spicy spaghetti and my very sizzling and yummy pepper steak!

Our Spicy chicken Bruschetta
The meal was delicious, the service was fantastic. The meal cost us about S$30 I guess. I recalled it to be cheaper than Fuji.
.
As this last day we did not diligently note down the pricing.. so memory is very vague now.. sigh.
.
After Another Hound, we took the train back to Citadines, gotten out luggage and took a taxi to the airport. The cabfare was 420THB inclusive of toll and tipping.
.
And what did you think we did at the airport? *lol*

We went to the Cream And Fudge Factory. Very strange serving I felt. We chose our flavours and the topping we desired and the nice people mixed them up on a frozen place (somewhat like a hot plate but its icy cold one) and turned the ice cream into fudgey fudge! Mine was Mango Ice-cream with peaches and his was Caramel Ice-Cream with Almonds. Very HIM and very ME!
.
It was getting late and I was sooo sleepy and grumpy. I knocked out cold on flight though hearing inconsiderate passengers sneezing, coughing, blowing their noses and sniffing.. I was frustrated but too tired. Then we ran into turbulence... I was so freaking out BUT still, too sleepy and subjected myself to fate!
.
By the time we touched down, I was hungry and tired. We took the sky train to T2, got our burgers and headed on home.

24 May - Sunday

It was chilly in the apartment and I was awaken about 8.30am by the 'coughing hubby'. He had been having dry throats for days (no its not H1N1!) and the coughing only killed me every morning while his snoring killed me every night. I am sleepless and thus, resentful.
.
Tired and grumpy, I washed up and was craving my morning coffee, though they weren't good coffee. And I also knew that I would be getting eggs! *adrenaline pumping*

See how runny and yummy those eggs looked? And yes, I had both the sunny side up plus the scrambled eggs! *guilty*
"Alright.. it's a slow and nice day... we shall explore somewhere new today!"
.
And again, we rushed back to the apartment and get that sleepy look off our faces and hair - get dress, get handsome and get pretty!
.
One for the road!
Hmm.. yellow yellow... such a happy color! *all smiles*
.
J said we should explore new places and we took the BTS to Thong Lor Station. THong Lor was highly recommended by his elder brother; for what, I could not remember but thought he mentioned, vaguely, well-designed pubs and cafes. Not sure.
.
We alighted at the station and walked for a really long time along a really long road. Along the really long road, we saw a few furniture gallery, bridal boutiques and basically nothing else. As the weather was killing me, I was resentful and uncomfortable with perspiration. After close to 30 minutes of endless walking, we arrived at a modest mall that deceivingly looked huge in our book... *jaw dropped* - J Avenue.
.
There was nothing to see but housed a few cafes and restaurants. Disappointed. We had to sit down and bury ourselves within the air-con room. I had the privilege of choosing a pretty cafe of my choice. They housed a few familiar names like iBerry, Greyhound Cafe, Au Bon Pain and a couple of Japanese restaurants.
.
I chose iBerry!

My fattening healthy choice - waffles with strawberry ice cream + bananas + strawberries!
His utterly sinful brownie with cookies and cream ice cream!
The cafe was a comfortable palette of white and yellow; so appropriate for perking one up. Our iBerry cost us 261 THB.
Here are a few shots of how relaxed and slow J-Avenue was... nice surroundings but disappointing for a tourist perhaps. But I did spot many Caucasians having their tea and chilling out in the cafes though.

We dashed across the road from J-Avenue and saw another arty-farty building and again, there was nothing much there except restaurants, hair salons, a few florists and a local designer's boutique. The building was also creatively known as Penny's Balcony - how appropriate as the shops were all lines up behind a balcony!
The things they were selling were also very pretty stuff and gave one the feel of Holland Village in Singapore. If you'd know what I mean?
.
We hopped into a taxi to MBK. No, we were not prepared to walk the very long road back to the BTS station.
.
The cabfare to MBK cost us 120 THB inclusive of tipping as there was a bad jam along the way. We bought ourselves a pair of lovely pillow cases!

We walked around MBK furniture level abit as J was eager to look for stuff we could get for your new house but we were held back with ways to deliver the stuff back... so we dropped the idea.
.
We headed up to Fuji Japanese Restaurant. Eat AGAIN?????? Not really, we were just snacking! *defensive!* I was very disappointed though. I used to frequent Fuji with Mum and aunt and the meal never cost the 3 or 4 of us over S$35.. this time with J and we ordered so little, we had to pay 838 THB.. not cheap anymore! Their prices had risen to that of dining in Singapore. Bad bAd bad bad bad!
.
We walked around MBK for a while, then into Bonanza Mall and then to Central World.. again.. in search of pretty cafe. Since there weren't much to do.
.
Lucky me, found a handsome cafe! It's call create8 cafe and it's a bookstore cum cafe! I loved it because the colors were dark and the fact that J and I were sitting in a book!!!!

His Iced Cappuccino was actually REALLY good!
Erm.. nope, we were not eating.. we were just nibbling!
We ordered salad you see!
Our nibbling cost 360 THB.
.
After that, we went scouting for dinner venue. YES, you heard me right! *lol*
We walked around the whole mall, corners we had never been to, levels we had not yet explored. We wanted something unusual and affordable. However, as we have been eating non-stop, our stomach wanted other things. Mine wanted simple and plain soupy food.
.
J gave in and we settle down in the Food Hall and the highest level of Central Mall.
It was like any food court you could find in Singapore except they were selling all local food. I was happy I ordered my Pork Balls and Meal Kuey Teow Soup. So local! *satisfied!*
J had wanted pasta tonight but we did not manage to find one nice and affordable one in the building, and the stall selling pasta in the food hall, according to him, not appetizing to look at. He went for Pha Thai instead!

I mentioned to J in the afternoon that I did not get to eat the thai-ish 'po-piah' from MK this trip. J ordered this for me when he saw it at the food hall... *so sweet* But it was not as nice as MK.
Our meal at the FOod Hall cost only 185 THB.
.
I was so tired and was dying to return to the apartment. J went on to Zen, tried on a few pair of jeans before we headed back by BTS.
.
Feeling a little blue as we would be going back tomorrow. Sigh...
